Lead Software Engineer, Protocol

The role

Take a leadership role in a small, highly skilled engineering team, driving the development of Contracts that power tens of thousands of decentralized applications built with thirdweb. As the Lead Software Engineer for the Protocol team, you will shape the vision, architecture, and implementation of key products, including the prebuilt smart contracts, protocol contracts, contracts framework, and smart contract tooling. This role combines hands-on development with strategic leadership to aggressively build and innovate in the blockchain space.

What a typical week might look like

  • Lead by example: Design and implement gas-optimized smart contracts that will be deployed and used by hundreds of thousands of developers globally.
  • Drive innovation: Architect and develop new smart contract frameworks and tools to empower developers to create secure, efficient, and scalable decentralized applications.
  • Mentorship and collaboration: Mentor team members, review code, and foster an environment of growth and innovation within the Protocol team.
  • Cross-functional collaboration: Partner with other teams to solve complex customer challenges, plan new features, and iterate on solutions based on feedback and lessons learned.
  • Customer engagement: Act as a technical point of contact for customers, assisting with integrating thirdweb into their applications or platforms.
  • Community engagement: Represent thirdweb in the web3 ecosystem, collaborating with developers, companies, and auditors to establish best practices and influence industry standards.
