🚀 Tech Stack Trends in Australia 2025 Here’s what I've been seeing the most so far this year Frontend - React continues to dominate. Next.js is quickly becoming the default for full-stack apps. Backend - Node.js, Go, and Python are all heavily used, however, I'm finding a lot of businesses wanting more Python developers right now. Databases - PostgreSQL is the go-to to but MongoDB and DynamoDB are also common. Cloud & DevOps - AWS is the most widely used. Docker, Kubernetes, and serverless frameworks are also now standard. What does your current stack look like compared to this? Am I on the money?

🚀 Now quietly open to short-term consulting The original Jobs and Skills Atlas was a custom-built platform developed to help Australians explore job market trends, skills demand, and occupational insights. As demand for the tool grew—along with new data, features, and stakeholder needs—the platform began to show its limitations. Over the last year at Jobs and Skills Australia , I’ve been leading the re-architecture of the Jobs and Skills Atlas—transforming a 2.5-minute load time into 2.5 seconds and turning a massive legacy Javascript code-base into a scalable React + Drupal + OpenSearch platform. It’s been a wild and rewarding ride. One of the biggest challenges was migrating from a huge legacy JS file (4,500 lines!) and an 80MB JSON payload to a solution that could load in seconds and scale as needed. I replaced the monolithic front-end with React, migrated the data to OpenSearch, and integrated it with Drupal for easy content management. Now, the app loads in under 3 seconds, and the entire platform is far more maintainable and scalable. While my contract continues, I’ve had a few people reach out lately asking for help with: • untangling legacy code-bases • improving app performance and scalability • migrating to React or headless Drupal • setting up robust development workflows or data pipelines So I’m now open to taking on 1–2 consulting clients for short-term or part-time work (technical audits, performance deep-dives, proof-of-concepts, etc.).
