Financing Sustainability
Does your organization have a solar or other renewable energy project that might be eligible for financing?
BQuest Foundation partners with organizations dedicated to creating equitable community solutions for reducing carbon emissions, increasing renewable energy, and advocating for policy changes towards a zero-carbon future.
BQuest has a particular interest in funding projects that further our mission of creating more sustainable, resilient, and equitable communities across the United States, with an emphasis on our home state of California. Please note that the vast majority of our funding is in the form of philanthropic loans, not grants. Our financing is recycled to create as much impact as possible while also leveraging outside funding.

- Projects that are physically located within a marginalized or underserved community. Designations include:
- In California: SB 535 Disadvantaged Communities

- Inflation Reduction Act Energy Communities Map
- Projects that are owned or operated by nonprofit organizations to benefit the community they serve.
- Projects that create financial savings for low- to middle-income families and communities.
- Projects that increase climate resiliency in low- to middle-income communities.
- Projects that need short-term funding to unlock / leverage other funding opportunities such as rebates (e.g. federal ITC) or grants.
- Projects that can be funded by a low-interest philanthropic loan rather than charitable gift. Very limited grant funding is available.
- Projects that are shovel-ready (not pre-development) and already have organizational support, project bids, and/or a project budget.
