Return to State of the ARC (#7)

Who remembers my old posts on State of the ARC? Back in 2018-19, my backlist ARCs were starting to pile up on me, after so many years of being dedicated to posting all ARC reviews two weeks before the release of the book. I was scheduling these things months in advance sometimes, and it was always some stress off my shoulders to have these reviews done so consistently. Then, I made the mistake that I know plenty of people do–I requested too many, and then I was done for.

Now that I’m back into the reviewing cycle (kind of), I’m intent on getting this all sorted out. Thanks to my procrastinating on all of these, I can take advantage of the fact that all of these ARCs are now published–meaning I can read them as audiobooks or physical books from the library. I’m not stuck with just awkward eARC copies that might not even work.

So here I am, back to this meme, and ready to conquer this pile of books.

Review #249 // The Clinic – Cate Quinn

Meg is an addict working undercover at a casino catching cheaters. After a shift, Meg sees a news story on her estranged Hollywood actor sister’s death, she realizes that the supposed cause of death is utter bullshit. Suddenly, Meg gets the idea to go undercover into the drug rehab clinic that her sister had been checked into when she died, feeling that she would be able to get to the heart of the truth faster than the police.

Why this book?: We purchased it for our library collection, and that usually means it has a decent waitlist since we’re such a small library. I decided to check out the audiobook later on, out of pure curiosity.

Why this book?: I read There’s Someone Inside Your House simply because I wanted to see how bad it was. That’s it. That’s the tweet.
