2025 Week 7 College Football Predictions for Every Game

David KenyonOct 8, 2025

The best weekend of the 2025 college football season has arrived.

While a future Saturday may surpass the upcoming slate, no previous set of games has featured this kind of depth.

Everywhere you look, there's a showdown. Friday night, South Florida heads to North Texas in a pivotal clash for the American. Oklahoma and Texas square off in the Red River Rivalry, Georgia goes to rival Auburn, and Michigan plays at USC. And none of those are among the five featured games.

Three more contests have a pair of ranked teams, highlighted by Indiana's trip to Oregon in a battle of Big Ten unbeatens.

I hope you didn't plan much on Saturday. Find your extra screens, my friends, because we have a busy day of football ahead.

Top Matchups for Week 3

1 of 5
COLLEGE FOOTBALL: OCT 04 Minnesota at Ohio State
Julian Sayin

No. 1 Ohio State (5-0) at No. 17 Illinois (5-1), Noon ET

Indiana hammered U of I a few weeks ago, creating plenty of doubt that Illinois can stick with top-ranked Ohio State. Nevertheless, this exact moment is what the preseason hype hinged on for the Illini. The problem is OSU just doesn't give up points, holding all five opponents below 10. Tough to win if you don't score much.

Prediction: Ohio State 34, Illinois 14

No. 8 Alabama (4-1) at No. 14 Missouri (5-0), Noon

Alabama is on a roll, while Missouri is rested after an open weekend and aiming for a big upset. Mizzou needs quarterback Beau Pribula to create with his legs on occasion and avoid turnovers—the latter piece evaded Vandy's Diego Pavia last weekend. But if Pribula has a solid game and Mizzou's secondary holds up, the Tigers can calm the surging Tide.

Prediction: Missouri 31, Alabama 27

No. 7 Indiana (5-0) at No. 3 Oregon (5-0), 3:30 p.m.

Dear Coach Cignetti, if you win this weekend, I promise to never pick against you again—not exactly joking about that, either. He has engineered a truly remarkable ascent at Indiana. This is not a game IU has ever won. I believe Oregon's elite balance, especially at home, will be too much for the Hoosiers. And I would not be surprised if—somehow, some way—I'm wrong.

Prediction: Oregon 38, Indiana 28

Florida (2-3) at No. 5 Texas A&M (5-0), 7 p.m.

Defense was hardly an issue for Florida on its ugly journey to a 1-3 start. The problem was an ineffective offense, which suddenly put up 457 yards (7.0 per snap) on a fantastic Texas defense last weekend. Will that offense travel to A&M? Although my gut reaction is no, the Aggies may need to scrap for a home win.

Prediction: Texas A&M 23, Florida 16

No. 21 Arizona State (4-1) at Utah (4-1), 10:15 p.m.

The visiting side is the ranked team, but Utah is favored in this Big 12 contest. The most interesting matchup is Utah's ninth-ranked rush offense and ASU's ninth-ranked run defense. Whichever side controls the line of scrimmage will have a valuable edge in what should be a tight finish.

Prediction: Arizona State 24, Utah 20

Weekday Games

2 of 5
Charlotte v USF
Byrum Brown

No. 24 South Florida (4-1) at North Texas (5-0), Friday, 7:30 p.m. ET

Make sure the scoreboard is working, because this should be a high-scoring tilt. North Texas has home-field advantage—which we see time and time again is an important factor—but a sketchy run defense is concerning. Led by dual-threat QB Byrum Brown, USF has so many solutions to attack on offense.

Prediction: USF 37, North Texas 33

Missouri State (2-3) at Middle Tennessee (1-4), Wednesday, 7:30 p.m.
Prediction: Missouri State 29, MTSU 24

Liberty (1-4) at UTEP (1-4), Wednesday, 7:30 p.m.
Prediction: UTEP 23, Liberty 20

Louisiana Tech (4-1) at Kennesaw State (3-2), Thursday, 7 p.m.
Prediction: Kennesaw State 27, Louisiana Tech 23

East Carolina (3-2) at Tulane (4-1), Thursday, 7:30 p.m.
Prediction: Tulane 31, ECU 27

Jacksonville State (2-3) at Sam Houston (0-5), Thursday, 8 p.m.
Prediction: Jax State 34, Sam Houston 20

Southern Miss (3-2) at Georgia Southern (2-3), Thursday, 8 p.m.
Prediction: Southern Miss 31, Georgia Southern 23

Rutgers (3-2) at Washington (4-1), Friday, 9 p.m.
Prediction: Washington 27, Rutgers 19

Fresno State (5-1) at Colorado State (1-4), Friday, 9 p.m.
Prediction: Fresno State 30, CSU 21

Saturday Early Games

3 of 5
LSU v Ole Miss
Lane Kiffin

Pitt (3-2) at No. 25 Florida State (3-2), Noon ET

As usual, Pitt is already a delightfully confusing team. The switch to freshman QB Mason Heintschel worked out beautifully as he threw for 323 yards and four scores against Boston College in his starting debut. Now, what's the encore in Tallahassee? In oh-so-Pitt fashion, that probably means an ugly loss.

Prediction: Florida State 34, Pitt 23

Washington State (3-2) at No. 4 Ole Miss (5-0), 12:45 p.m.

No matter whether Trinidad Chambliss or Austin Simmons (ankle) starts for Ole Miss, it shouldn't be close. Washington State gave up 59 points to both North Texas and rival Washington earlier this season.

Prediction: Ole Miss 48, Washington State 21

Stanford (2-3) at SMU (3-2), Noon
Prediction: SMU 34, Stanford 17

UCLA (1-4) at Michigan State (3-2), Noon
Prediction: Michigan State 30, UCLA 27

UCF (3-2) at Cincinnati (4-1), Noon
Prediction: Cincinnati 31, UCF 24

Houston (4-1) at Oklahoma State (1-4), Noon
Prediction: Houston 26, Oklahoma State 20

Charlotte (1-4) at Army (2-3), Noon
Prediction: Army 35, Charlotte 21

Miami (Ohio) (2-3) at Akron (2-4), Noon
Prediction: Miami 30, Akron 24

Toledo (3-2) at Bowling Green (2-3), Noon
Prediction: Toledo 27, BGSU 23

Louisiana (2-3) at James Madison (4-1), Noon
Prediction: JMU 33, Louisiana 20

Northern Illinois (1-4) at Eastern Michigan (1-5), 1 p.m.
Prediction: NIU 24, EMU 19

Massachusetts (0-5) at Kent State (1-4), 2:30 p.m.
Prediction: UMass 26, Kent State 21

Saturday Afternoon Games

4 of 5
Purdue v Notre Dame
CJ Carr

No. 6 Oklahoma (5-0) vs. Texas (3-2), 3:30 p.m. ET (in Dallas)

We know OU quarterback John Mateer wants to play. However, his status will likely be a game-time decision—and determine my prediction. Oklahoma's defense will be a thorn regardless, but Texas is familiar with Michael Hawkins Jr. after silencing his impact in 2024. If Mateer plays, flip it; if not, give me UT.

Prediction: Texas 23, Oklahoma 17

Virginia Tech (2-4) at No. 13 Georgia Tech (5-0), 3:30 p.m.

Following the coaching change, Virginia Tech has played much better defensively. That form will be tested in a trip to Georgia Tech, which sports a physical, run-driven offense led by rigid quarterback Haynes King. Georgia Tech hasn't lost at home since the 2023 season, and the streak continues.

Prediction: Georgia Tech 31, Virginia Tech 20

North Carolina State (4-2) at No. 16 Notre Dame (3-2), 3:30 p.m.

At the midpoint of its season, NC State has yielded 5.6 yards per snap. That ranks 84th in the country. Notre Dame, meanwhile, is becoming a force on offense with the dynamic duo of Jeremiyah Love and Jadarian Price in the backfield. As long as ND's defense does not relapse, it should be a comfortable win.

Prediction: Notre Dame 41, NC State 21

No. 22 Iowa State (5-1) at Colorado (2-4), 3:30 p.m.

The bad news for Colorado is a 2-4 start is basically its worst-case scenario realized. The good news is CU has at least been competitive in most of those losses. Iowa State should recover from an ugly performance by the defense at Cincinnati, but a blowout does not seem likely in Boulder.

Prediction: Iowa State 27, Colorado 24

Arkansas (2-3) at No. 12 Tennessee (4-1), 4:15 p.m.

Arkansas shocked Tennessee last season, but that matchup was in Fayetteville. Tennessee shouldn't have a major problem dispatching the Razorbacks, who surrendered at least 475 yards in losses to Ole Miss, Memphis and Notre Dame.

Prediction: Tennessee 43, Arkansas 24

Wake Forest (3-2) at Oregon State (0-6), 3:30 p.m.
Prediction: Oregon State 26, Wake Forest 23

Northwestern (3-2) at Penn State (3-2), 3:30 p.m.
Prediction: Penn State 38, Northwestern 14

Nebraska (4-1) at Maryland (4-1), 3:30 p.m.
Prediction: Nebraska 31, Maryland 24

TCU (4-1) at Kansas State (2-4), 3:30 p.m.
Prediction: TCU 27, Kansas State 23

Ball State (2-3) at Western Michigan (3-3), 3:30 p.m.
Prediction: WMU 26, Ball State 21

Air Force (1-4) at UNLV (5-0), 3:30 p.m.
Prediction: UNLV 38, Air Force 28

Old Dominion (4-1) at Marshall (2-3), 3:30 p.m.
Prediction: ODU 33, Marshall 23

Appalachian State (3-2) at Georgia State (1-4), 3:30 p.m.
Prediction: Georgia State 28, App State 24

Navy (5-0) at Temple (3-2), 4 p.m.
Prediction: Navy 31, Temple 21

Saturday Evening and Late Slate

5 of 5
Texas Tech v Houston
Behren Morton

Kansas (4-2) at No. 9 Texas Tech (5-0), 7:30 p.m. ET

Long saddled with subpar defenses, Texas Tech appears to have turned a corner with a transfer-filled unit. While the schedule hasn't been terribly difficult, holding Utah and Houston to a combined 21 points is very respectable. Kansas has serious offensive upside, but I'm a believer in the Red Raiders.

Prediction: Texas Tech 38, Kansas 27

No. 10 Georgia (4-1) at Auburn (3-2), 7:30 p.m.

The challenge for Auburn is straightforward: Can the team finally score enough? Oklahoma held the Tigers to 17 points, Texas A&M limited them to 10 and Georgia is similarly stout. Auburn's own defense should keep the team competitive, but this SEC contest is likely a "first to 20" kind of result.

Prediction: Georgia 23, Auburn 16

No. 15 Michigan (4-1) at USC (4-1), 7:30 p.m.

On the other hand, expect a good number of points in Los Angeles. USC hasn't provided much cause for optimism on defense, and Michigan's secondary had a couple of average days in the Wolverines' two previous road games. I'll lean toward USC's combo of home field and a more productive offense.

Prediction: USC 34, Michigan 27

South Carolina (3-2) at No. 11 LSU (4-1), 7:45 p.m.

The mobility of Ole Miss QB Trinidad Chambliss played a key part in LSU losing to the Rebels. LaNorris Sellers is also a dangerous freelancer, so South Carolina is a real threat here. LSU's defense, nevertheless, should be the best unit on the field and carry the Bayou Bengals at home.

Prediction: LSU 28, South Carolina 19

No. 18 BYU (5-0) at Arizona (4-1), 8 p.m.

Entering this Big 12 showdown, Arizona has given up 4.9 yards per pass attempt with zero touchdowns allowed to seven interceptions. BYU QB Bear Bachmeier has notched 9.1 yards per throw with seven scores to one pick. It's a strength-on-strength clash in Tucson, and I'll take the hosts in a slight upset.

Prediction: Arizona 27, BYU 23

UAB (2-3) at Florida Atlantic (2-3), 6 p.m.
Prediction: UAB 38, FAU 33

Iowa (3-2) at Wisconsin (2-3), 7 p.m.
Prediction: Iowa 20, Wisconsin 13

San Jose State (2-3) at Wyoming (2-3), 7 p.m.
Prediction: Wyoming 24, SJSU 21

Louisiana-Monroe (3-2) at Coastal Carolina (2-3), 7 p.m.
Prediction: ULM 27, Coastal Carolina 20

Clemson (2-3) at Boston College (1-4), 7:30 p.m.
Prediction: Clemson 34, Boston College 21

Purdue (2-3) at Minnesota (3-2), 7:30 p.m.
Prediction: Minnesota 31, Purdue 23

Rice (3-3) at UTSA (2-3), 7:30 p.m.
Prediction: UTSA 26, Rice 20

Troy (3-2) at Texas State (3-2), 8 p.m.
Prediction: Texas State 37, Troy 24

New Mexico (3-2) at Boise State (3-2), 9:45 p.m.
Prediction: Boise State 38, New Mexico 28

San Diego State (4-1) at Nevada (1-4), 10:30 p.m.
Prediction: SDSU 24, Nevada 16

Utah State (3-2) at Hawaii (4-2), 11:59 p.m.
Prediction: Hawaii 31, Utah State 23
