WWE NXT Results, Winners, Live Grades, Reaction, Highlights After Halloween Havoc
Welcome to Bleacher Report's live coverage of WWE NXT on October 28.
Halloween Havoc was an interesting show that changed the landscape of the women's division more than any other division in NXT.
Not only did we see Blake Monroe beat Zaria to become the new North American champion, but we also saw Tatum Paxley win the NXT Women's Championship from Jacy Jayne.
DarkState regained the NXT tag titles from the Hardy Boyz, but Ricky Starks and Ethan Page managed to hold onto their belts.
This week, the men's Speed Championship tournament continued, and we saw the Evolve women's title defended when Kendal Grey took on Lash Legend.
Let's take a look at everything that happened on this week's NXT.
Trick Williams Wants a Rematch
1 of 8
The show opened with a recap of the events from Halloween Havoc before going live to see Trick Williams throwing a fit backstage while looking for Ricky Saints.
He eventually made his way into the ring, grabbed a mic, and started ranting about how he has been running things for years and should have won at Halloween Havoc. He called out Saints for another title shot.
NXT general manager Ava came out with a couple of guards and said throwing a tantrum won't get Trick what he wants. Saints eventually came out and got into a fight with Williams while security tried to pull them apart.
This was an energetic way to open the show. It pushed this feud forward and had the crowd reacting a lot. Although Williams was not clear about why he thought he deserved a rematch, this was still good stuff.
Grade: B+
Notable Moments and Observations
- Williams seemed to think he deserved a rematch because of how the crowd reacted. It didn't make much sense.

Jasper Troy vs. Axiom
2 of 8
Last time in action: Axiom defeated Sean Legacy (NXT, Oct. 21), Troy defeated Zachary Wentz (NXT, Oct. 21)
The Men's Speed Championship tourney continued this week with Jasper Troy taking on Axiom.
The high-flyer tried to stick and move to avoid the big man, but Troy eventually got his hands on him and put him in a submission.
The first two minutes went by quickly. Axiom made a comeback and tried to hit a big move, but Troy put him down with one big shot. The powerhouse hit the Black Hole Slam for the win with five seconds left.
These Speed matches are never going to be amazing because of the time constraint, but with only three minutes to work in, these guys made the most of their time.
Result: Troy defeated Axiom
Grade: B-
Notable Moments and Observations
- Troy hits the Black Hole Slam well. Abyss must be proud.

Tatum Paxley is Your New Champion
3 of 8
After the break, The Culling made its way to the ring to celebrate Paxley winning the women's title at Halloween Havoc.
The crowd gave her a very warm welcome and chanted her name as she talked about how long she has been dreaming about this moment.
She said she wants to be able to give everyone an opportunity to fight for the title, but Izzi Dame interrupted and said it was a bad idea to offer a shot to anyone who wanted it.
She put everyone's name on the Halloween Havoc wheel and it landed on Lola Vice. Shawn Spears pointed out how Dame's name was not on the wheel. She did not look happy about it.
This was a decent segment to set up a title match, but the eventual betrayal by Dame is almost too obvious.
Grade: C
Notable Moments and Observations
- Zaria looked upset backstage when Sol Ruca relinquished the Speed title instead of letting her defend it for her.
 - They brought up the missing wheel from Halloween Havoc. Shotzi not being the host was also unfortunate.

Kendal Grey vs. Lash Legend
4 of 8
Last time in action: Legend and Grey both lost a Battle Royal (NXT, Oct. 7)
The Evolve Women's Championship was on the line when Grey defended the belt against Legend, but the champion didn't come alone; she had Wren Sinclair in her corner.
The first minute was a back-and-forth fight, but as soon as Legend grabbed Grey by the neck and threw her out of the ring, the tide shifted a bit.
Grey's quickness allowed her to keep Legend at bay most of the time, but the powerhouse kept finding ways to ground her eventually.
They fought through a break into the next segment. Legend seemed to have the match in hand until the crowd and Sinclair helped give Grey some motivation. She hit her finisher for the win after Legend missed a running boot.
This match may have had some missteps, but they made it look like a hard-fought contest, and that always helps. Grey is a good underdog character who already seems ready to move on from Evolve and do more with the company.
Result: Grey defeated Legend
Grade: B-
Notable Moments and Observations
- Legend's growth over the past few years has been phenomenal. She still has work to do, but she could be a major player on the main roster within a couple of years if she is booked right.
 - The bump Grey took getting tossed out of the ring looked painful.
 - Legend throwing Grey over the top rope by her feet was a cool moment.
 - We got a shot of Jordynne Grace doing squats in the middle of this match. Even with her having a title contest later, it felt random.

Myles Borne vs. Tavion Heights
5 of 8
Last time in action: Borne lost in Team NXT vs. TNA (NXT, Oct. 10), Heights defeated Stacks (NXT, Oct. 7)
Two friends stepped into the ring to see who was better this week when Heights took on Borne. The former NQCC teammates had a little friction before this, but their promos made clear they still see each other as brothers.
Sometimes a good, competitive fight between two babyfaces is exciting because it means there is less chance of shenanigans causing a dirty finish.
Both of these men are great athletes who have grown a lot during their time in NXT, so it felt like we were seeing two complete wrestlers instead of two rookies. They began by trading holds and takedowns in a nice sequence.
Even though both men have been in bigger matches, it almost felt like they saw this as their chance to really prove something to the crowd and to themselves.
Josh Briggs joined the commentary team halfway through the match, and Heights went out of the ring to confront him. Borne ended up taking both men down with dive over the top rope.
Borne ended up getting the pin with an inside cradle that surprised his opponent. Briggs pulled Heights out of the ring and they fought in the aisle while Williams showed up out of nowhere and hit Borne with a chair.
He called out Saints again, which brought out the champion for another brawl.
Result: Borne defeated Heights
Grade: B+
Notable Moments and Observations
- Paxley and Vice had a quick interaction backstage. It seems like Dame wants to both turn on Paxley and help her at the same time. She was giving her reasonable advice, but the look in her eyes said it all.
 - The way Heights rolls his opponent onto his shoulders is such an impressive move.
 - Booker T's commentary wasn't as bad as usual during this match, but he still talks over Vic Joseph too much sometimes.

Tatum Paxley vs. Lola Vice
6 of 8
Last time in action: Paxley defeated Jayne (Halloween Havoc), Vice lost the Battle Royal (NXT, Oct. 7)
Dame accompanied Paxley to the ring for her title defense against Vice. They started with a simple lockup into a headlock takeover from Vice.
A few minutes into the match, Fatal Influence showed up and attacked Dame at ringside. Vice and Paxley put their fight aside as the group surrounded the ring.
The ref called for the bell when it broke down into a big fight. We knew this match would end without a title change, but having it get thrown out completely after only a couple of minutes was disappointing.
Result: No-contest
Grade: C-
Notable Moments and Observations
- Joe Hendry randomly appeared during a backstage moment with Chelsea Green and Ethan Page.

Kelani Jordan vs. Jordynne Grace
7 of 8
Last time in action: Jordan defeated Indi Hartwell (TNA Bound for Glory), Grace lost the Battle Royal (NXT, Oct. 10)
The TNA Knockouts title was on the line when Grace challenged Jordan for the belt she once held proudly in TNA.
Grace had a significant power advantage, so she easily took control during their initial lockup and took Jordan down in a headlock.
When we returned from the break, the match had become more of an even fight. Jordan was connecting with strikes while Jordan kept looking for ways to overpower her.
Grace slipped when going for her finisher, and Jordan took advantage of the situation by planting her for a two-count.
Williams and Saints ended up fighting in the aisle and the ref got distracted. Jordan considered using the title as a weapon, but she decided against it. A few moments later, she used it anyway and it helped her get the win.
Most of this match was decent, but they had a few close botches that kept it from being as good as it could have been.
Result: Jordan defeated Grace
Grade: C+
Notable Moments and Observations
- Fatal Influence challenged Vice and The Culling to a six-woman tag match next week during a backstage segment.
 - It looked like they had some trouble with a suplex spot using the ropes and abandoned the move.
 - Jordan's moonsault looked good, but she barely made any contact with Grace, so it didn't look like it should have been a takedown.
 - They almost fell, but they made the Spanish Fly work.

The Final Word
8 of 8Tuesday's NXT may have only had one standout match, but the show did a good job following up on Halloween Havoc and setting up for the future.
Paxley was a heavy focus on the show with an in-ring segment, a backstage segment and a title defense, but you can tell her alliance with Dame is on borrowed time.
The feud between Williams and Saints has reached a boiling point. The way WWE had them fighting throughout the whole episode helped elevate it from a standard story into a personal grudge.
In two weeks, they will have a Last Man Standing match for the NXT title, which should put their storyline to bed once and for all.
Borne and Heights stole the show with their encounter, so if you only have time to see one match, make it that one.
