Energy and climate are intertwined, two of the most important topics in the world today, yet viewers know little about them. This show aims to change that.
“Energy Switch” brings together two renowned experts from government, NGOs, academia or industry with differing perspectives on vital energy and climate topics.
These lively discussions are moderated by renowned energy scientist and communicator Dr. Scott Tinker. The show is produced, written and directed by Emmy®-winning documentary filmmaker Harry Lynch, creator of the celebrated PBS series “Great Performances: Now Hear This” and “Stories of the Mind.”
Join us each week on Tuesdays at 11:30 p.m. for Season 7 of “Energy Switch,” or stream online anytime. Coming up this season, we explore decarbonization, data centers, extreme weather, air quality in America and more.
About the director
For almost 30 years, Harry Lynch has been a film producer, writer, director and soundtrack producer specializing in narrative-style location documentaries, distributed mostly through PBS, international public television and streaming.
In that time, he has directed and/or produced 131 television episodes and documentary features, managing crews as large as 200 on nearly every continent. His work has been seen by more than 80 million viewers around the world, winning several Emmys® among other awards.
As managing director of Arcos Film+Music, Lynch provides leadership and guidance for its staff, along with creative direction for the outside filmmakers Arcos collaborates with.
Lynch was educated at the University of Texas film school (MA screenwriting program with a Michener writing/teaching grant) and Vanderbilt University.
Dr. Scott Tinker
Dr. Scott Tinker is the Director of the Bureau of Economic Geology and the State Geologist of Texas. He is also the acting Associate Dean for Research, and a Professor holding the Allday Endowed Chair in the Jackson School of Geosciences at The University of Texas at Austin.
Dr. Tinker is an internationally known energy expert, giving invited lectures more than 40 times a year to industry, government and academic groups, striving to bring them together in a common understanding of energy. When not traveling, he spends time with his wife and four kids, all of them energy experts.
