Each year there are over a hundred AWM Student Chapters worldwide making waves in the mathematics community. Membership in Student Chapters is open to all regardless of gender identity or expression, race, color, religion, age, national origin, sexual orientation, or disability.

Registration Questions

If your Student Chapter was started or renewed this year then it will show up on the current list of Student Chapters. If you don’t see your chapter listed check with your advisor to determine who needs to purchase the Student Chapter add-on. (See the flowchart for more information.)

No, your Student Chapter no longer needs bylaws. However, if your chapter needs bylaws for your institution, a template can be found here.

Yes! However, the Student Chapter membership will only pay for one of the advisor’s membership. This advisor will be the one in charge of filling out the student membership list and social media links. To add another advisor to our email lists, email ed.admin@awm-math.org.

Update Questions

If you need to change your advisor during the year, please email ed.admin@awm-math.org.

Your advisor will be the person that updates the membership list and social media handles for your chapter. When your chapter is started/renewed, your advisor will receive an email with a link to this list. If they cannot locate the email, please email us at ed.admin@awm-math.org.

Note this is the same list your advisor should update for officer changes!

Your Student Chapter is welcome to provide any sort of programming content that you think would enhance your community as long as it adheres to the AWM Welcoming Environment and Diversity Statements. If you need ideas, check out the Student Chapter Highlight page or consider reaching out to other nearby chapters (see the above map) or old Student Chapter Award winners.

The Annual Survey & AWM Student Chapter Awards

At the end of the academic year we will ask you to fill out a Google Form about your chapter and the events you held. You may also use this form to nominate your chapter for an AWM Student Chapter Award! Each year four awards are given out, allowing us to recognize some truly exceptional programs.
