IndieWeb CampIndieWeb Book Club November 2025

November 2025

I love comics! This is a renewal of the IndieWeb Book Club. I invite you to join me in reading 1993’s “Understanding Comics” by Scott McCloud and post about it on your very own website.

Links about this book: Wikipedia · GoodReads · Archive.org

What is this?

IndieWeb Movie Club is–uh–a book club. But it’s also book themed blog carnival!

I have recently been re-reading this and was surprised to see that one of the examples McCloud used in the Picture Plane—right next to Mickey Mouse and in 1993—is Bone

Bone was incredibly exciting in 1993! A true indie, a great line, appealing writing! That it’s still in print justifies its presence!

Hi Joe! Hey all! Gonna tag along n enjoy the book n the book club. It’ll be my first time reading your selected book and my first time in a Book Club. I jus adore comix of all stripes, genres, times and locations and especially how they’ve profoundly impacted me as an artist since I was a lil kid. Aaaand the delightful beautiful exchange (mutation!) of ideas, form, aesthetic, philosophy and radicality between Comics, Comix, (so-called High & Low) Art, Graphic Art & Design and Communication. What punky fun!

Hiya Indieweb Book Clubsters n La Gente Curiosa Del Cómic! What a fun, neat-O n enriching book! So artfully done. Plus, it’s really taking me back to my roots. I wrote a lil about that here in my first share with our group. I’ll have some slightly different content on 2 sites – so check’m both out. I’m excited to check out all your stuff too. OK enjoy!

The IndieWeb Book Club choice for November 2025 was Scott McCloud’s Understanding Comics. I wanted to write a post about this book, but I have lately found myself spending a lot of time reading books rather than writing.
