Just Chords is the right tool for cataloging chord charts and lyrics. Create charts, or import them from online sources. Build your library that’s always with you, synced to all of your devices (including MacOS) through iCloud. You can even create and share setlists for live sets. Supports Airplay to project lyrics live. Use Just Chords standalone or as an AUv3 in your favorite DAW. I feel like Ive tried every chart app out there and always found wanting more. Name the app and I assure you I probably have tried it - even very expensive ones. I randomly came across this app on Reddit. I must admit I did NOT have high hopes based off of my past experiences. Well, I was WRONG!!! This app is very well thought out and I’d even be willing to bet was made by a musician with the same past problems with apps as I had. The layout is superb. Its easy to use, easy to share, easy to change the roadmap, easy to save files, easy to upload files, and very customizable. I give it 5 stars but would make one suggestion… Please allow users to write directly on the chart with my Apple Pencil. The feature currently requires an extra step and does not allow for me to erase without erasing the entire note. If you are interested in improving, download the app OnSong, and play around with the note-taking ability and features. In my opinion, that is the ONLY thing I would change about this app. Absolutely brilliant! Please keep the improvements coming.

Better than the rest

This is just perfect how it is. Works with the air turn pedal. Scrapes existing chord sites. Able to edit, hide chords, transpose… basically anything a professional bar/restaurant musician could ever need. And it’s free. I downloaded. I donated. I use it at every gig. I can’t remember the last time I ever made a voluntary donation without being prompted for one. I literally went looking for a way to pay something for this. Absolutely wonderful, better than the expensive subscription apps by far. Just try it. You have literally nothing to lose. The only thing I wish I could figure out how to do is flip to the next song in the setlist without touching my iPad and instead using a Bluetooth pedal. For all I know it does, but I haven’t figured it out yet. Might just need a better pedal than the airturn pedpro. Can’t be happier with this app.

I’m really really impressed so far, and I’ll write more after I’ve had a chance to actually use this for playing live. The old-school process was to print out a bunch of songs with the lyrics and chords, put them in a binder, and put the binder on a music stand. This app allows you to do that, and much more…but the most important thing is, it needs to do the basics well: allow you to organize and flip through songs using your iPad as a virtual 3-ring binder. I think some of the other apps have lost sight of that fundamental need. This app seems to do it very well.
