I... I... I... didn't know what I should have even expected.
A deaf mute little prince aaaaaoooooeeeeeing through the world.
Was pretty bored through the first half but must admit that it became actually interesting towards the end.
Wow...I don't even remember how long it has been since I watched an anime show that was oozing with such quality, to the point that I don't know if this show is actually really really good, or that I lowered my standards so rock bottom low to cope with anime today, that I think it's amazing just for not being another fan-service or generic flavor of the month shit show.
Well all I can say is that I love the show so far, and every character in it, including the "evil" ones. I don't know if anyone here remembers, but this show's setting and style kind of remind me of Popolocrois.
This show is... Good. I'll probably expound more on why later, but so far I'll just say it's good, and homages the sixties/seventies style of cartoony character designs and simplistic story beats very, very well.
After 3rd ep - definitely one of 2 series I'm looking forward to in this season. Queen, Apis and Bebin, snakes and lastly The Devil - ffs that was scary, but I can't wait for another episode. OST definitely reminds me of Ghibli and that's a very good thing. Go Bojji-ouji!
What a refreshing change of scenery! It's Miyazaki worldbuilding with Tezuka character design. I guess if you're going to put something out in the same season as a strong Lupin revival, this is a good direction to go in.
And if episode 2 doesn't get you, I dunno what to say to you. How do you make people feel human empathy for something that is gross and dangerous and not human at all? Make it hold a toy duck and cry out for mommy.
4 episodes in, I can't say I didn't try. I still don't know what kind of story is attempted to be told here, I just don't really care. All I see is a mess that has "don't discriminate the disabled" written over it.
So at this point I'm guessing not only will the deaf boy survive, he will also save the kingdom including his brother, for a somewhat happy ending.
I just really can't bring myself to care about him. Every other character here has some kind of personality, while he is just the cute little mascot, that smiles when treated well, cries when treated badly, is just annoying when he tries to speak even though he can't, and in general behaves like a retard.
Fairly high production values, wasted on something I can't appreciate,

Now I am really curious how the anime looks compared to the manga.
Especially because it is Wit adapting it.
