Sometimes small ponds produce the biggest fish. The ponds don’t get a whole lot smaller than Clarksdale, Mississippi where emcee PyInfamous was born or Crystal Springs, Mississippi where the introspective emcee honed his “real ill lyrical game.” (thewordisbond.com)
“When he was in high school in the early 90s, Py would get into his ’79 Chevy Impala and drive from his family’s house on Utica Road, which meanders outside the town limits past the cemetery. He’d end up at the gas station with his friends. They’d sit outside, late into the night, scanning the dial for hip- hop.” (theguardian.com)
That scanning eventually led to freestyle sessions. The freestyle sessions eventually turned into studio sessions where PyInfamous “sets his sights on contextualizing political rhetoric in a way that he hopes can change the conversation.” (clarionledger.com)
The introspective emcee and University of Mississippi graduate continues efforts to make his music more impactful, and his current project The Struggle Has Just Begun II: We Struggle Too displays Py painting on every part of the canvas and with multiple brushes and colors. Produced entirely by BrosWilson (Vic Wilson), We Struggle Too, has been in the work for a few years, but fans will be definitely feel the wait was worth it.
