Michael was starring in Pirates of Penzance, when Paul Nicholas, convinced of his talent asked Cameron Mackintosh to see this boy. All Cameron got really was a photo of MIchael and Paul's word. Enough for him to come and meet Michael, who did not even have an idea that he was introduced to maybe the biggest musical theatre imresario of the time! Cameron invited Michael to the auditions. Marius meant Michael's first ever West End role and as it was staged at the Barbican with the Royal Shakespeare Company he fullfilled one of his dreams!
