Sri Lankan cleared of drug charges

The Sri Lankan sprinter, Susanthika Jayasinghe, has been cleared of allegations that she took performance-enhancing drugs.

She'd been suspended in April after a test suggested that she'd taken a banned steroid, but an inquiry decided that the allegation could not be proved beyond a reasonable doubt.

Afterwards, Jayasinghe, who had denied taking drugs, told reporters she'd been confident that her name would be cleared.

Jayasinghe came to prominence last year when she won a silver medal at the World Athletics Championships.
