The Dream Team- keep dreaming....

Today is a very wet Saturday. It has been raining almost all day.
And I am so bored. I have been bloghopping...to cheer things up, but not many updated their blogs during weekends.
And I am not in the mood to write anything as well...

Anyway, here's the photo of my two sweethearts..

Both the jersey were bought by Pok Chik...it's too big for Laiqa...
She hates anything to do with boys clothing. The first time we showed her this jersey, she quickly grab it and hid it under the desk.
Anyway today she agrees to wear just during the 'photo session'.
She is just so 'girly'.

Last time, her 'tok ayah' (my father-in-law), bought her a superman suit complete with cape...she cried and threw it away.
Bought her something pink..she will definitely love it.

My hands are itchy...to bake...

I am in KL right now...
So, the place here have no oven. Only microwave. I felt so handicapped. I've been heresince last Wednesday. I am supposed to go back to Ipoh last Sunday, but my 'ever dearest AB' canceled at the last minute.
And now after a week of no cooking and baking...I have this urge to bake. To bake a delicious, moist chocolate cake to be precised. Not too sweet not too bitter, just the right amount of sugar and cocoa...and some acidity, that would make the perfect chocolate cake. Yummy...can't wait to be back home.. May be I'll make some topping too...whipping cream would be good...but chocolate fudge would be better...

Eid Mubarak - 1 Syawal 1428

Raya was marvellous...as usual... No 'happenings', no saucy gossips....just the usual...

We celebrated first 'raya' in Perak...my 'kampung'...this year. Last Syawal, we've spent a week in Kelantan. Not because my 'ever dearest' AB have loong holiday...It was because my MIL passed away a few days before 'Raya' and we were there for the funeral and for 7 days of 'tahlil'.

This year we celebrated in Lenggong. Yup...Lenggong is a very small town (a 'cowboy' town to be exact) in Perak.

This year first Syawal...all my brothers were there. This was the first time all of us were there since...10-20 years. Before this there must be one of us who celebrated first raya at their in-law's. We did take family pictures (which were taken using my eldest bro (Long's) very 'canggih', brand new SLR camera- he is very into photography). He haven't email me those pics. I might post them here once I get them from him. (p/s- kakak, pls remind abah to email me those photos).

Some were taken using my Ngah's O2 (who are in US since 2nd raya and I doubt he will ever email me those photos). A few using my Chik's digicam.

And not forgetting, a few numbers of pictures taken by my Mr. AB using his new 'raya' toy- which he had wanted to buy for quite sometimes, only to be delayed by his lovely wife (that would be ME), because I still doesn't think that he need that PDA phone. Anyway I'm glad he bought them...because I am sooo...happy seing him being so 'jakun' and everything with that 'toy'. He even slept with it the first week he bought that PDA. ehhheheh (actually, he already owned a PDA, which had been broken by his most beloved wife (which is ME)- I sat on it, and broke the screen). Thanks darling for not being angry with me...

And may be I would download the photos from his PDA later, since he's busy watching football at the moment.

We had plenty of food. One of my SIL brought lots of home-cooked food which she had prepared from KL, including her delicious 'chicken sambal', ketupat, chicken rendang, etc. The other SIL prepared 'kuah kacang'. Another SIL cooked 'nasi hujan panas' with 'ayam masak merah'. And my mum prepared 'lemang' and rendang.

We spent the day eating, eating, eating and eating. Oh yes...we also visited our uncles and aunties houses.

The night- I went to a small gathering of my ex-schoolmates, which was held in Tasek Raban Resort. I brought some cupcakes. My hubby tagged along (actually, I forced him to tag along...hehhe). I left Umar with 'atuk'. Not many turn up. Anyway it was great.

I went back around 11pm, only to see Umar waiting at the door, hands on his hips. As I stepped out of the car, he started with his 'motherly' speech...'why you go out until late at night? You should come back earlier. bla bla bla....' (and now, he had taken over the job as a mom...). Talking about freedom....my free days had long gone.... I can't even go out late at night...if it's not the hubby...then it's the son who started nagging at me......

To those who attended the gathering (I know some of you have been the silent reader of my blog)...it was really nice meeting you guys...

Asmeda, Lynda and Nozie...time really flies...x sempat habiskan gosip2 terkini...we shud meet up again...

To the seniors...which I only knew from the 'cyber' world all this time, (and thru phone calls and sms)...all of you have been great sport... and very friendly....thanks...

AND TO ALL OF YOU......have a great raya... don't stuff yourself tooo much with all the lemang, rendang, etc..... If you do...don't complain if your pants size increase a few inches...it's your own fault...:):):) (and don't blame your 'baju', - the 'kain' did not shrink...okay!!!)

Ramadhan.....

This year Umar started to fast. (at his own will)

"I want to fast too",..

By noon,
"Umar, adik is having her lunch. do you want to have lunch with her?", I asked him. He's still young, and this is his first attempt in fasting...I thought he might want to break fast by noon. (moreover, I did not wake him up during sahur).
"No, I'll eat when you eat".

By late afternoon,
"Mama, can I have a taste of what adik is having? Just a little, tiny miny. i don't want to break fast yet, I just want to have a taste."
After a long explaination to him, he break fast at 3pm.
I think that's good enough for a five year-old.
I didn't expect him to last later than lunch, to begin with.

Hello.......Hello..... and the Brain...

Hello…hello…

I didn’t update this blog for a while. I was away. Been in Lumut for a few days…no internet connection in the hotel room. Lumut could be a great tourist spot, except that it lack a few tourist facilities. The hotels there for instance, could be improved a lot. They are not up to standard. I could list all of the lackness here, but…better not. Anyway, stop fussing… (p/s-Lumut residence…please take note…complaint this to the district officer or whoever responsible)
And I can’t imagine myself going to the ‘cyber cafĂ©’ with the two kids tailgating behind me.. ☺ ☺

The view from my room balcony. That's the navy base. (on the far left)

Just wanna share some graphics that I found somewhere.
It’s kinda interesting.

It’s almost true, but I’m sure not everyone is the same.
The ‘jealousy’ area kind of large…hmmm…are women that jealous…well,, may be…may be not… Women are not jealous, it’s just that men are always ??? (can't find the right word... 'gatal'(?)..) so, women have to really keep an eye on them, to prevent them from doing anything stupid right…hahhahah…(lame excuse for being jealous, I guess).
And no wonder I always have trouble in choosing things. Hehehehheh…

But let’s see the another interesting graphic….
This is interesting and funny….

Isn’t it interesting. Anyway, most of us are already aware of this, but when everything is highlighted like in this graphic...things are clearer, isn't it??

Just see what accommodate the most part of their brain…hmmm…true though, right.
The ‘attention span’ area is small….but what caught my attention is the area for ‘listening particle’…almost nil…
Hahahhaha…now I know why my ‘ever dearest’ won’t have a clue of what I’m saying after a while…he’s not even listening….
Can we change this? Or men brain are already created to be like this…???

Recharging myself....

I arrived in Ipoh yesterday.
And today, I just stay at home, doing nothing..( nothing in a mother's dictionary is taking care of the kids, making sure they eat their meals, bath, read books to them, tidying up the house, etc- that's doing nothing...ok)

I'll write about the wedding later, may be tomorrow.
As for today, I'll just leave you with the pictures of my 2 kids on the reception day.

Busy Day?? -still

The wedding (solemnisation) is scheduled after zuhur prayer today.

Yes, yes, the wedding is in Kelantan (in Pasir Puteh, Kelantan to be precised), so why am I still in Ipoh..???

Well, my 'ever dearest' just came back from Bangkok for his business trip. He arrived in KL after midnight last night. We're be off in an hour or two, after he gets his beauty sleep. :p

So, I've completed the cookies. It's to be given as wedding favors among other stuff.

I've even managed to decorate some with the color that God's Slave chose (but why does it looks like blue in this picture? It's supposed to be light green, ok.)

And this is Laiqa's dress. Before that, have to remind you, the groom picks the wedding theme color...and it's orange. I'm not really fond of orange...but, will do...( I'm dark ok...won't look good in orange :)-we'll see.
Initially I planned to sew the dress myself, but my hubby 'brought' me back to reality...hehhehe...he said I already have tons of things to do...don't ever dream of sewing the dress. So , I sent it to this tailor. It's expensive...or is it the normal price nowadays...i'm not sure. I already have this particular design in mind for Adik's dress....when I pick-up the dress from the tailor...the design is not like what I imagine it to be. So I unstich almost 50% of it, add the organza skirting( because the initial skirt is not flowy enough), add the lace at the waist, some beadwork around the waist and neck and that's it.
When it's done...now I think it's very, very over the top (maybe it'll looks better if it's cream or white).

And this is a sneak peak of my dress(baju kurung). Notice the beadwork?? What do you think for a first timer? This is the front of the dress.
The material are sponsored ok....so, everyone in the family are going to wear this(but own design and style) to the reception this Saturday.

I'll post more pictures when I get back next week.
Now, I have to look for the right accessory. :)
Ta ta....

p/s hliza...if I have the chance, i'll get the rempah kerutuk for u.

Busy bee...Busy me...

It's 21 August...and I am not done.....

I've settled the hantaran. But sorry, no pics yet. My sis-in-law have taken 'em back to Kelantan before I have the chance to snap the photo. Anyway, i'll make sure I have some photos of it on the wedding day.

I've almost finished with my princess's(laiqa's) dress. Just a few finishing touches.

And the same with mine. May be i'll post the picture tomorrow.

The cookies...completed 3/4 of them. So, only a quarter more to be decorated.

This is just a quarter of all the cookies. What with the multi decorations...well, I got bored with just one pattern, so, I kinda variate them. (can anyone think of any nice color combination?)

The wedding will be on the 23 August. But the reception is on 25th.
We're supposed to go back to Kelantan on the 22nd, however, my 'ever dearest' have to go to Bangkok for a business trip. And he won't be back until 22 midnight. Can't help much with the preparation back home I guess.

And now it's 3am...gotto get some sleep...zzzzzzzzzz

I Am still Busy

I am still busy.

From the list of all the things for me to do...I've done....well, may be 30% of it.
And it's 6 days left to complete( the wedding will be on 23Aug, but we're going back a day before, so have to finish a day before that...pheww).

All of u must have been wondering...what am I doing here....while there are still tons of work to be completed...
Well...i need some entertainment too right, besides, i am trying to loosen up my joints after hours in the kitchen (wished I took up yoga- they claimed that it can really loosen up joints :)).

The most challenging part is of course decorating the cookies. I am using royal icing.
To make the challenge even harder, I have to decorate, while Laiqa is around me all the time-her reason- adik nak tolong mama je ni (i just want to help u). She isn't just standing/sitting there, she'll come and hug me from behind (while I was trying to get a smooth intricate line on the cookies), or come clinging at my hand (while I was squeezing the icing to get the right pressure).
And Umar entering the kitchen every 5 minutes to have a peek, only to be chased back out by the irritated mum :).

The cookies have to be completed in a few steps and a few days. The first day-baking. Second- iced the whole cookies, have to left to dry a few hours/overnight. Third- deco with lines/ any detailing and left to dry back again.

So, after finished decorating about 50 pieces of cookies, I left them to dry. I am using the guest bedroom-since there r no guest, and it's not a place where the kids would most probably walk-by.
While I was somewhere else, Umar and the sister, Laiqa went and have a peek in the room. They must have stand very near the edge, as later adik felt onto the cookies....arghh....no........it's not happening... each one of it is like soo precious...... :((

Anyway, let bygone be bygone...I'm baking more today. I guessed to get 150 pieces of cookies...I have to bake 200 minimum (or may be more), to exclude all those incidents.
To make things worst, they kept asking to have a bite...and of course, mummy have to let the kids eat right....and there goes another few pieces.....

Okay...Off I go.... :P

I am so very busy...

This blog is full of cobwebs, dust, etc.
The owner must be very lazy @ run out of ideas @ sick (hopefully not) @ very, very busy.

well....i am very busy, extremely busy.
I've just came back home from a week and a half trip to Kuala Lumpur, Johor and Lumut.
Phew...the trip was nice though.

However, just wait til I list down all the things that I have to complete back home.

My brother-in-law is getting married on the 23 August 2007, so, it's less than 2 weeks.
I have to help prepare lots of things.

-there's wedding gifts (hantaran) from both side that I have to decorate-7 from each side, and don't ask me why it's 7 from the groom's side and also 7 from the bride's (total 14). I was asked to decorate them , not being fussy about it, ok.

-need to prepare the wedding favour, which consists of candy, daisy cookies, chocolate chips cookies(if I am up to it), bunga telur ( we'll be using a wood goblet- with a boiled egg inside)-the goblet is originally designed by my creative niece,
and some yellow glutinous rice (pulut semangat-as what've been told by my sister-in-law).
All this will be nicely decorated and put inside an individual custom made paperbag.
hmmm...how is that as a wedding favor??

-i still have to complete some beadwork on my dress (baju kurung) and my daugther's.

-have to print custom-design stickers for the paperbags (which also been designed by my creative niece)

-have to help my 'ever dearest' to prepare a visual presentation for the reception lunch.

so...how's that? do u think I am up to it?? I don't think so, but I'll try.

i've baked some of the chocolate chips cookies, but by the end of the day, only half remain. the other half have been eaten by the kids... what a challenge.
And I also baked and iced some of the daisy cookies, only to end up with fingerprints on them. (someone, or rather two people have felt so tempted to touch them while the cookies are left to dry).

So, I need much patient, and extra hands, and extra times....
i'll post the picture here when i'm done.

And for now...off to the kitchen...have to bake more cookies..

Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows

I am sooo gonna missed Harry Porter.

Remember last time i wrote it here that it seems like impossible for me to get the final Harry Porter book...
Well, I've gotten it. With all the fuss and argument about the book price, I bought mine (actually my hubby bought it for his lovely wife-hehehe) from TESCO, which sells this book with a cheaper price compare to other major book store. (lucky me- I didn't book the book from those bookstores, as they sells with a much higher price (I was told)).

Once I got the book, I felt like reading it right away...but...hmmm.... i'm not the single girl in college anymore, where I can read novels or anything, anytime that I want. And during those time I can finished one novel in one sitting (it did took a few hours though to finished it). As the plot thicken, I just have to finish them up. Well, i'm not the patient type of people who can wait to read the rest of the book the next day.

But, now, I'm a mother, of two rather 'busy-body' kids, that can't just leave mummy alone. So, I only read at night after both of them are fast asleep.

The final book - 'Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows' is great. I think it's the best of all the seven novels.
It's full of suspens, tragedy, death, confusion, conspiracy but still have its humour...

Whoever haven't read the book, and planning to...you can stop reading this entry HERE.... (or just skip the part with the smallest font. :))

For those who have read, and those who are not planning to read it, can carry on...

Fred died....:(( ( at least George just lost an ear).
And poor Teddy, who is just a baby, lost both his parents, Lupin and Tonks...this is so sad.
Severus Snape is innocent- can u believe it!!! -poor Snape, he died too.
And the sparks between Ron and Hermione are really intense this time...they got married anyway at the end.
Harry married Ginny- well, we can see that coming too, right.

I almost cried reading this novel...heheheh...I know, i know, rather pathetic yea?? I rarely cried over movies or books, but this time??? hmmm...may be motherhood have soften me inside, and get me mushy for no reason(or small reason). But what the heck..as if u cared.??

So, Harry Potter's books are finally over...what's next??? Will there be any more such stories or only those with imitation story line?
I am really soooo gonna miss Harry Potter.......

Hope they'll continue with the movie.

huuhuhhuuh...still haven't watch 'Order of The Phoenix'.

8 Random Things About Myself

i've been tagged. This time it's by dear sis isleasy. (ooo...balas dendam yek???..hheheh)
I have fun doing this, since it's based on my random thoughts about myself-which some of it never occurred to me before.

1. I hate the smell of cigarette smoke. Nobody smoke in my household as long as I can remember. Not my parents, brothers. nor my husband. So, whenever I accidently inhaled the smoke in public places, I would felt like I have smelled some kind of toxin (which is true), and felt dizzy, or something like that. Anyway, I don't hate those people who smoke. I couldn't hate them, they are nice people too. It's just their bad habit, that they can't (or I rather say that they didn't try hard enough) to kick.

2. I hate covering my feet. I hardly wear socks. During the night if it's cold, I cover only other parts of me except my feet.

3. I love spicy food. If my meal is not spicy enough, I would still have the urge to eat another spicy meal.

4. I always think out of the box. So, my opinion always differ from the majority.

5. I love cooking and baking more than gardening or sewing, eventhough i do all of them. When I cook, I could see the results of adding new ingredients or experimenting new recipe as soon, within 1 to 2 hours the most. But if I plant a plant, try out a new fertilizer (for example), I could only see the results days or sometimes weeks after. I am not that patient. Sewing is too time consuming. I sew my own curtains, and cloths sometimes, but, it took ages to complete.

6. I love to buy gifts for other people. Gifts always make people smile. But, i have money limitation. So, only during special occasions.

7. I don't like answering phone calls. hahahhahah... This is very true. I always leave my handphone in my bag, under the cushions, in the bedroom, etc, because... I don't bother. (sorry, very sorry- just my bad habit that my 'ever dearest keep complaining about). If you want to contact me, leave me a message or better still, send me an sms. I'll definitely reply SMSes ( and emails).

8. I love chocolates- be it milk/dark chocolate- in cakes, ice creams, cookies, anything. Hate white chocolate, and hate milk. Haven't been drinking white/fresh milk since 6 years old. I've been taking calcium supplement anyway (occasionally) :)

So, I guess the rule is to tag next 8 people. hmmm.... do I have that much friends??
Anyway, I know you people are going to hate me because I'm going to tag you, but I have fun doing so...hehheheh
so, my victims are...
-my 'ever dearest' (just would like to know what u'll write about)
-cik bawang
-mamabear
-flush
-DrEzura
-sisbee
-diaHarris
-A Kel called Wonder.....
-hmm.... I run out of blogging friend I guess...that's about all I think.
n'way, if any of u are busy, just ignore this tag. Complete it when u feel like it- just to have fun yea...

Last week, Chocolate and Harry Potter

Many things happened last week. I came to KL on Monday 9July, while I was still down with flu.
Attended a wedding reception in Dewan Perdana Felda, KL. It's the wedding of my sis-in-law's niece. And the bride's mum happened to me my ex-lecturer while I was in medical college- my lecturer in immunology. The wedding was a blast, however I didn't take any photo of the bride and groom. (may be i'll ask my niece to send me a copy later).
The next day, my 'ever dearest' had to make a business trip to Singapore. We tagged along ( how could he leave a 'sick' mummy and her 2 active kids). We stayed in Johor Bharu. Not much thing to do.
The best was the trip to The Zone- free duty zone. The good there are still expensive. But I just love the chocolate/candy store. I spent rm100 there. I could spent more, only to be stopped by my 'ever dearest' .

I am really a chocoholic!!.
This is what happened if a chocoholic met a chocolate store.

Felt like buying everything in the shop. Yes, yes, we could still find the same chocolate in other shops elsewhere, but the price here...it's like 30% cheaper. (Anyway, I was told, they are cheaper in Langkawi).

We did stop by the famous Danga Bay. The place is breathtaking. But, it was too hot for us to take a stroll. No photos there either.
By Friday evening, we were back in KL.

Anyway enough about that. Let's talk about Harry Potter.
Huhuuhuhuhu... I am a big fan. But, haven't got the opportunity to watch the movie yet. I assumed whoever that went to watch the movie have to be Harry Potter's fan, so I guess they would really mind if there's one mummy watching with two rather talkative kids. If it's me, I would rather annoyed with kids talking non-stop while I'm watching my favourite, most-awaited movie. So, I tsk..tsk..tsk..have to wait for the dvd to come out.

And about the final novel- Harry Potter and The Deathly Hollows. Really, really want to have it. But... I guess I could not be the one who waited since 5am in front of Kinokuniya in KLCC for the book to begin it sales at 7.01am this Saturday. And my 'ever dearest' is not a fan- so, it's a sure no-no for him if I ever asked him to get me one.
Whatever, however, it is, i'll get a copy...sooner ar later... :(

p/s anyone of you are going to the bookstores on saturday?? do u mind get me a copy???
hehheehehheh

I guess this is just one boring entry from me. That's it. This is just an entry when I have nothing specific to blog about.
Have a nice day...

Durian Story

I was down with flu. Yes...I'm not well. Too much durians... :) (not to mention-the hot weather nowadays).
It's all started with a trip to my mum's durian orchard.
We went back to my kampung last Saturday. As we arrived, we can smelled durians from outside the gate. Once inside, my 'ever dearest' finished up one whole durian within 5minutes. Then another, and another.
By late afternoon, he complaint of headache. However, we still have an appointment with the 'durian' tree after Asar. So, he swallowed 2 PCM, and off we went to the orchard. It was a small orchard, used to be so large, but after my grandparents died, my mum and her other siblings had to divide it equally. So, it's not that big, but enough durians for us, and enough to make lots and lots of 'tempoyak' storage that will last until the next durian season.
I still remember, when I was still a kid, we used to go there every single year, without fail. my granddad would spent the nights there to gather all the durians before the 'wild animals' managed to grabbed it first.- either the tiny miny squirrel, the playful monkeys, and even tigers. (well-that's what he used to tell us-that tigers eat durians too)
During those days, we made a trip there ( me, my aunties and uncles, and my cousins), brought along 'pulut' and coconut milk for a feast of 'pulut durian'.
Once there, me and my cousins started collecting the durians, and we would compete who could gathered the most. By noon, we would sell 'our' own durians. The buyer would pay us as much as rm2 to rm5. What a great memory.
However, after my grandparents passed away, all that is not routine anymore. The cousins would prefer buying durians rather than go to the orchard.

Anyway, just to let my kids have the experience, I brought both of them to the orchard.
Dress them up nicely (but being a forgetful me- I didn't bring their shoes nor their longsleeves t-shirts). Laiqa wore her beautiful shoes, Umar and daddy were wearing their sandals, but... mummy brought her shoes, and her long sleeved t-shirt...hehehheheh. Sorry guys...didn't mean to pack only for me.
We had to drive for 10minutes from my parents' house, parked the car by a tobacco plantation, and walked another 10-15minutes through a rubber plantation and bushes.
We had to walk pass these.

Umar had a great time- collecting durians and fooling around. Laiqa...well...she's always not comfortable outside, especially in places like the orchard. Anyway, she'll get used, I hope.

The kids with 'atuk' and 'nenek'.

By 7pm, we started heading home.
And guess what??? Who was the one that was fully clothed with socks, shoes, long sleeves, etc, and who got bitten by 'pacat'?? Me...yes, it's me. D***, that s***** 'pacat'.

Sunday...we headed back home. I baked some durian cupcakes (will post the recipe next week). A friend came to visit, so, we served them 'pulut durian' what else...:)
By late evening....the flu bugs attacked... :((

This picture has nothing to do with this entry.

I've Been Tag

:)
I've been tag! Thank god it's a simple topic- favourite flower.
But, it's still took me quite sometimes to think about it. hmmm..really, I haven't thought about what my favourite flower is. Thanks to the hot mama bear for 'tagging' me, if not I still don't take the time to really think of what my fav flower is, and I would still be clueless the next time anyone ask.
but...which flower???
It have to be the red rose... or is it the elegant white lily? but of course not rafflesia. How about orchid?? I hate orchid...no not the one. Crysanthemum?? even have a hard time to spell it...nope. gerbera? unique, but not to my liking.
And the winner goes to.........the elegant, the mysterious, the beautiful, the romantic, and the everlasting popular....RED ROSE

I have lots of history that involved red roses in my life. ( my love life to be precise :))
during my college years, my 'ever dearest' boyfriend, always sent me red roses. delivered right to HUKM. I felt happy, but embarrased as well. (mengalah kan patient...hehehhe)
He sent me red roses once every few months.
If i was mad with him, he would wait for me at the 'ronald mcdonald's house' near my hostel with a bouquet of roses. how romantic....hehheh...yes..that's him.
After we'r married, I still get flowers occasionally. Life have been busier, and lots more things to think about (the kids, etc).

Anyway, AB, with or without flowers, I still love u much...muahhh... :)

I have no idea who to tag.
Anyway,
-isleasy
-hliza
-diba(sambil2 buat kek, buat tag pulak...tihiihi)
-wan the queen
-boogie (lamanya ko x apdet)
-vadai (if only u r interested :))
-and anyone
p/s if all of u are busy...just ignore this yea...
