I'll Be Hanged!

Saturday Leftover Day. Here is a short run of Thimble Theatre dailies with regular character Castor Oil trying to commit suicide. You sometimes see samples of suicide related stories from artist who actually did commit suicide later in life. Jack Cole is an example of one such artists, who used a lot of suicide gags. On the other hand, that may not foreshadow anything, because as these gags show, the theme was a lot more common in the insensitive twenties.

A Really Bad Post

Sunday Sequel day.

I have shown Sappo before, but the 1939 Sappo in Reversia deserves a book edition in my opinion. It ran from February to November 1939.

A Chappie, A Sappy and a Poppy

Tuesday Comic Strip Day.

Thimble Theatre and Popeye's daddy Elzie Segar started out doing Charlie Chaplin strips and I found a few.

Thimble Theatre itself wasn't too bad either before Popeye came on and stole the show.
